Such a list, if my younger brother in Grade 11 this year is to be believed, is a thing of the past.

More importantly, it allowed the teachers and parents to track a pupil’s progress through the year. Of course, there were the regular suspects who monopolised the first three positions, but every now and then, a dark horse would emerge to disrupt the status quo. There were those who had written themselves off in regard to such an achievement, but many worked hard and hoped and prayed to be called out. Almost every pupil in class would be crossing his or her fingers, hoping to be somewhere on the list. Every month, we would write tests and from the marks of those tests, the class teacher would compile the top 10 pupils for the month and would call them out, from number 10 all the way up to number one. It was not on such a grand scale, mind you. The images took me back to my own time in high school, Langsyde High School, almost 14 years ago, where such “standing ovations” were part of the monthly schedule. It took me many attempts to do this (20-25 ish?), requiring speed on the mouse, and a bit of luck.THE images of a beaming Asil Motala and other top matriculants that were broadcast around the country during this year’s matric ceremony would surely rank as one of the proudest moments in the life of any parent or pupil. The last puzzles are two column puzzles just after the maze. I photographed this on my phone on each run and this saved many precious seconds in the maze.

Just after this sequence is the monitor maze - the layout of the maze and location of the two triangle puzzles you need to solve is described by the pedestal puzzle (puzzle 4) just after the gramophone area. Some tips: The wooden bridge leads to two sets of three monitors - you only have to solve one puzzle on each set of three here. Here's the real kicker - some seemed unsolvable, although I'm now sure that was just me, but I often just reset them by deliberately failing them and redoing the previous puzzle to continue.

Once the music starts, a series of randomly generated puzzles are gradually revealed. The gramophone plays classic music - you have until the music finishes to complete the challenge. You know you have found the challenge when you find the gramophone in the cave system.

You also need to a specific puzzle (a column puzzle on its own) in this area to unlock another gate to the challenge area.
#The witness achievements how to
Other posts describe how to get to this area - you need to have all lasers and have unlocked the secret door in the red cavern just by the exit to the sea where the final elevator is found. However, it was definitely a rewarding experience to complete it. Also, the puzzles in the challenges are random - which is kind of nice as it makes it a bit resistant to walkthroughs, but it does introduce an element of luck. Personally, I found this at odds with the rest of the game - which doesn't place any time pressure on you at all. The achievement is awarded for completing a difficult time challenge located in the secret area beneath the mountain. Thought I would post some thoughts and tips (spoilers ahead): I just managed to get the second achievement.
